Games Tonight: October 16th

San Jose at New Jersey
At this point there is not much reason to watch the Devils. San Jose should keep their torrid scoring pace alive. Could be some really nice goals in this one.
San Jose

Toronto at Columbus
Two struggling teams. Could be full of goals. Lead swings. Neither team can quit because there is always hope of getting another goal. Both teams have this upside they haven't shown any signs of as yet. Maybe in a minute or 5 but not for 60.
Columbus

Carolina at Detroit
Carolina has played well. They just aren't finishing. I was at the game between these two in Raleigh and the Canes created a lot of chances. Zetterberg and company (can you say Abdelkader!?) don't need a lot of chances to get the biscuit in the basket so far this season. Efficiency! Canes need some luck, so I am throwing some their way. (Injuries have hit though - so two call-ups from Charlotte)
Carolina

Calgary at Winnipeg
I watched Winnipeg against the Rangers. They are solid and can be efficient offensively. Their defense gave up chances but were tough, as well, and got to rebounds well. I love Byfuglien. Calgary, as yet, I have nothing - I love Giordano and the way Bob Hartley has this team shaped but are they executing? Good test against this Jets team.
Winnipeg

St. Louis at Vancouver
St. Louis is fun to watch. Vancouver is playing so well. Sedins. Vrbata is a favorite of mine. Who is this Hansen kid?
Vancouver

Colorado at Anaheim
Both of these teams are in fix-it mode. Coach Boudreau is trying to get his boys better mentally. My question is where are Getzlaf and Perry!? Perhaps it is mental. I hope it isn't the loss of someone like Beauchemin. Plays and flow start from the back-end often. It is cool to see Francois Beauchemin producing on Colorado. But Patrick Roy, the coach of the Avs, thinks they have been making too many mistakes with the puck. It is worth watching this game, if either of them have actually solved something.
Anaheim

Minnesota at Los Angeles
Minnesota is playing fast solid hockey with commitment to their own zone, quick, smart transition up the ice, hard work in the corners to keep the puck in the zone and good pressure in front of the net. Sounds like the Kings' cup winning formula to me. The Kings are playing like a Maple Leafs team of recent years. I expect Quick to see a lot of action.
