Coach Dave Tippet is putting out the best system he can with this group. They are not deep on talent and injuries are having a huge impact. Regardless, the Coyotes should not be a playoff team and even with a terrible previous fifteen days - they are 2nd in the Pacific. If they can get some wins without Martin Hanzal C, maybe they will make the playoffs anyway. That would be a very solid outcome for a real rebuilding year.

Backup goalie Anders Lindback has played as well as Mike Smith - so that is not a huge loss. Hanzal, however, is a key for this team to be successful. At least Shane Doan RW has returned.

Injuries to top players on a team that is not deep - you get losses. This team needs all of it players putting it out there to be truly competitive. Shane Doan has been missed out for most of these losses, he just returned for Friday's loss to the Canes.
