Perspectives: Kane meet Wayne

Patrick Kane is certainly tearing it up right now. He is on a 26 game points streak. No one should be surprised, he has all the tools - Hands, hockey-sense, skating, really solid team. So if you had to pick a player to go on a point streak, he'd have to be in the top 5 to do it.

He would easily be mentioned with these guys:
Crosby* (this season is an anomaly - Coach Sullivan, do something!)
Malkin
Toews
Stamkos
Tavares
Benn
Seguin
Backstrom
Ovechkin
Zetterberg**
Datsyuk
D. Sedin

Kane is at 26. It is certainly awesome.

But Wayne kinda owns this one like he does all the O records.

(A nice thing to note - Mario Lemieux put up a 46 point scoring streak. At the time I would have argued he was offensively better than Gretzky. But in retrospect, maybe one-on-one Lemieux had an edge, but in no other aspect. Gretzky was and is the best ever. I was in bitter denial at the time.)

* his longest is 25
** his longest is 24
