Games Tonight: October 19th

One game on tap. I hope it isn't ugly.

San Jose at New York Rangers
I can't help it. I am a slightly pessimistic fan. Maybe just protecting my heart. Regardless, this Ranger team is not as lucky as last season the last couple of games. The loss to Winnipeg although disappointing felt like one of those losses you get sometimes (like Minnesota last night) - out-work just unlucky. The loss to Montreal - well, Montreal is playing so friggin' tight right now.

But the loss to New Jersey - that makes me re-evaluate the three wins for the Rangers. Two of them against Columbus. Columbus. Columbus might be playing the worst hockey in the league. And the Chicago win - Chicago is still adjusting and re-finding themselves. Are my Rangers a shell of their previous two seasons!?

San Jose is a good test to find out. San Jose still hasn't impressed me. They have the same feel as EVERY season. Fast start on the backs of no-name youngsters and the highly-skilled SOFT vets in Marleau and/or Thornton - but as the season matures and other teams solidify, San Jose becomes average - scoring potential, but not too difficult to score against. Well, that is the perfect test for this Ranger team. Solid performance by the Rangers and i'll be happy, win or lose.

Nash - no goals, 1pt. McDonaugh - nothing. Neither are playing bad - just not producing.

San Jose:
 - Logan Couture (C) Oct 17th IR
 - Paul Martin (D) Oct 17th day-to-day
New York Rangers:
 - None

Pick: San Jose (sadly)
