24 Calgary 0 6 New York Islanders 4 YES
Calgary has lost any momentum they may have had last season. It reminds me of what happened to Colorado a few seasons ago. They were in this game even into the 3rd period. The Isles got a goal from Grabovski - excellent shot placement off a nice headsy pass from Bailey and Calgary continued playing pretty tight. But they couldn't create and the Islanders were able to counter any pressure. I'm not sold on this Isles team, I think they score with any team, but I am not sure they can clamp down on defense like the great teams do.

17 Arizona 4 27 Toronto 3 YES
Arizona still has a lot of work to do, but Dave Tippett has them playing very good hockey. If they can keep it up all season, this group can crack the playoffs in a decently deep West Conference. The youngsters Domi and Duclair were together on the powerplay and continue to click. Toronto didn't quit but they still have a lot to work on. I love Shane Doan getting one - it was a tap-in off a very nice quick pass from Boedker. Toronto has a lot of trouble controlling the middle. That makes their goalies play back in the net more. Toronto has a lot of growing to do if they have any hopes of making the playoffs.

29 Anaheim 0 5 Chicago 1 (OT) YES
Anaheim continues to struggle to get the puck in the net. Perry had a lot of shots but only a couple of good chances - one off the post and another he just held on too long, which gave a patient Crawford the advantage. Getzlaf created a couple of plays but not much impact and his aggressive play on Toews help Toews create that winning goal - a great shot in the top corner. Ryan Kesler had maybe one good opportunity that Crawford made a nice glove save on. Chicago had the edge in chances from danger zones so the shot counts really are indicative of who carried play. Chicago, although not scoring, is impressive and playing a very tight own-zone focused style that should scare a lot of teams. This is without D.Keith.
