Who of the night: October 18th

Kyle Palmieri - 24yrs RW, NJD-21 He's been with Anaheim until this season. He does a little bit of everything but not a standout. Fast skater and decent forechecker - this guy helped turn momentum last night when he fought Kevin Klein on the Rangers.

Alex Pietrangleo - 25yrs D, STL-27 This guy is a really good defenseman. In that second-tier, below guys like Keith-CHI and Doughty-LAK. Nothing exceptional but he makes good decisions with the puck and defensively.

Jason Pominville - 32yrs RW, MIN-29 Started with Sabres and was always getting those big goals. He's one of those guys that finishes when it matters. If Minnesota breaks into the later rounds of the playoffs, I can see him scoring a big goal.

Andrew Ladd - 29yrs LW, WIN-16 He was on the Canes in '06 (rookie year) and the Blackhawks in 2010 - his name is on the cup twice. He is an impact player when he plays big and goes to the net. Definitely a solid 2nd line winger that never hurts you on your end.

Sami Vatanen - 24yrs D, ANA-45 He skates so well and covers so much space. He sees the ice and passes well in the offensive end. If Anaheim gets back to winning, he will be an impact player in the success.

Eric Gryba - 27yrs D, EDM-62 He's got a lot of those unmeasurable qualities that makes defenseman valuable even though he isn't scoring. Headsy and usually good with the puck in his own end. Not a stalwart but he'd be 2nd line defense on most every team.

Radim Vrbata - 34yrs RW, VAN-17 He's a finisher. Not a top-tier one, but dependable - if it's on his stick in tight and there is an opening - GOAL. Not creating a lot of his opportunities, but a good passer can certainly find him reliable.

Jarome Iginla - 38yrs RW, COL-12 PROTOTYPE PLAYER. He's old but still contributing on a young Avs team. Goal leader for the league in '02 and '04.

Jeff Carter - 30yrs C, LAK-77 He can lead a team via performance. He is not a leader but his skills are top-notch. Skating, hands, shot, toughness. If he is focused the Kings edge closer to unstoppable.
