Reviews: October 25th

7 Minnesota 4 8 Winnipeg 5 YES
All Winnipeg. Then Winnipeg lets Minnesota climb back in it. But not enough. Winnipeg holds on. Fun game. Both teams should worry some if they let things happen like this very often. Minnesota let a lot happen early. And Winnipeg slowed the offensive pressure without tightening down in their own zone. Neither of these teams is convincing me they are out of the upper-middle tier. Not a terrible place to be in the East - but in the West, you might be out of the playoffs.

29 Calgary 1 20 New York Rangers 4 YES
The Rangers created some good things. I am pleased with it. But they weren't as dominant as the score suggests. Nash was invisible but this may have been a result of Giordano being on the ice against him. I give Giordano a lot of credit for any success Calgary has, sadly, it isn't much.

21 Los Angeles 2 at 22 Edmonton 1 YES
Los Angeles is playing very well these days. Too much credit will be given to Jonathan Quick, but his play has not changed much - the team has tightened it down. They are controlling the offensive zone and they are keeping chances out of the middle of the defensive zone. Is Quick doing that? The defense is playing well together. That said, I was impressed with some of the chances Edmonton created. McDavid is looking solid and he's making Yakupov better - which is great. Yakupov has a lot of talent - it'd be nice to see him play with confidence (and not cockiness).
