Reviews: October 28th

24 Calgary 4 21 Ottawa 5 (SO) YES
Calgary got some defensemen on the board. That is a positive. Anderson for Ottawa gave up one he'd like back. But really, the play was sloppy by both teams. I like that Turris had time with Bobby Ryan. They are both handsy, skill players. Turris is a good one to keep in mind for fantasy leagues - he is streaky but he is rarely a minus player. This season may be different - Ottawa does not look as comfortable in their own end as they have in seasons past. Calgary certainly got a lot of good space and took advantage of it. Neither team is playing respectable hockey. Glad Russell got one for Calgary, I guess.

16 Pittsburgh 3 2 Washington 1 NOPE
As I said, this will be a tough one to call. Ovechkin just couldn't get one. He had a couple of chances that he didn't finish on. T.J Oshie got it on his stick a bit too and couldn't finish one. Both of these teams are serious contenders. Fleury is playing confident in net and that means he is trusting his team to do their part. This is always a good sign (unless your team is truly giving up a lot of opportunities - Craig Anderson in Ottawa, for instance, playing positional, solid but still giving up goals) One thing I noticed, Pittsburgh gave up a bit of coverage in the middle, the Caps got a lot of rebounds. Fleury played everything almost perfectly.

3 Nashville 2 15 San Jose 1 YES
Nashville is a little better for sure. But this was a very even game. Neither team had a lot of great chances - Neal's pass to Forsberg was fantastic - a good save by Martin Jones, but Forsberg had enough time to place that shot better. The game winner by Jarnkrok was sweet placement. You can't judge by one game, but San Jose showed good own-zone coverage in front of the net. Nashville is very solid in this.
