Nascar: Chase at Kansas Motor Speedway

Nascar is brutal.

Matt Kenseth had the strongest car of the day. He led for 153 of the 269 laps (originally 267 laps but extended because of the late caution). But as the race wound down, Joey Logano's ride started narrowing the gap.

Kenseth held his lines tight as the race wound down - Kenseth needed the win because he finished poorly in last week's race. And truly it seemed it would be his race - just hold off Logano.

Well, Logano took exception to Kenseth's blocking way and on the 5th to last lap, he got under Kenseth, loosening the rear and spinning him as Kenseth, once again, closed off Logano's lane. Kenseth was basically at Logano's mercy and none was had.

Logano finished first. Kenseth controlled his car enough and ended 14th.

The way the Chase works, every three races eliminates drivers. This was race two. Logano has won both in this leg. Kenseth will have to win in order to move on to the final 8.

Dale Earnhardt Jr is also in that situation - must win to make the cut.

The next race is Talladega. I'll try to watch.

(by the way, i'm kinda pulling for Kevin Harvick or Jeff Gordon or Dale Jr. I might be pulling against Joey Logano now.)
