Reviews: November 10th

Not a good night of picks but still some games went my way - for my heart :)

6 St. Louis 2 12 New Jersey 0 YES
Jake Allen is gonna get all the praise - two shutouts in a row. Not an overly busy night as that Pietrangelo anchored defense kept New Jersey out of the middle mostly. The real story to me is that sweet shot by Martin Havlat from another aging vet Scott Gomez. That is like great added value from two basically free talents for St. Louis. New Jersey has been playing well, but when your leading scorers muster 7 shots on net they better be sharp. Cammalleri had the best chance for the Devils late and he missed the puck on an open net.
St Louis 6/4

24 Carolina 0 2 New York Rangers 3 YES
The opposite of my fear. Yay! Carolina makes goalies look great. Lundqvist played very well and made at least two big saves. Carolina had more than one opportunity with time in front of the net and didn't place the puck well, missing the net completely in one case. The Rangers' first two goals were excellent - Jesper Fast lasered one to the top opposite corner and then Rick Nash with a quick little deke on Cam Ward for an easy tuck in to an empty net. Mats Zuccarello set that up with a beautiful fake shot and pass to Nash behind the defense. The Canes can skate with any team. If they finish opportunities they can be a really good team. Note for Coach Bill Peters - spend 3 hours a day making players finish their shots. The Rangers have been finishing their opportunities so far this season. That can bode well!
New York Rangers 6/4

29 Colorado 4 23 Philadelphia 0 NOPE
Freaking Flyers. Who can tell with this team!? As soon as I say they suck, they'll crank out 7 wins in 8 games with 2 shutouts. I really think they are thin on defense. And their bottom six forwards are not solid. And guys like Voracek and Couturier are invisible. -- still waiting to review this one.
